You can also target the cylon ships before they can be identified on DRADIS, though you will have less accuracy. Raptors are also good for scouting, but Assault Raptors are best because they can buff your ships' accuracy. Press the spacebar and go to posture and you can see the effects on your subsystems the more defensive or aggressive you move the slider. Ships like the Manticore, Berzerk, and Adamant have really good DRADIS (detection) range the more you push their posture to defensive. Just make sure no Wardriver squadrons are about! If you have the ability to unlock nukes, get it ASAP, they make many battles a breeze as many ships can be oneshot by a single nuke. 2 squadrons are a huge asset and the station has a lot of health so can handle itself. If you are using the Daedelus, I recommend using its vipers to defend your ships rather than the station itself. You don't want to be directly below the Cylons, but just slightly lower so the top guns can fire. The broadsides have quite a bit of elevation and the biggest guns of the artemis are topside. If you're not already, try to get your Artemis and Minotaurs below the Cylons. If you are finding you get overwhelmed by Cylon fighters you may need more fighter carrying ships in your fleet, which is why I like Adamants. One or 2 Viper Mk.II squadrons will chew them up. I found you don't always need to worry about smaller ships like Nemesis corvettes or the tube shaped dedicated Cylon carriers. Make sure you focus your fleet on single ships. If you have unlocked torpedoes, use them instead of guided missiles, they do a good job against bigger Cylon ships which can have a lot of armour to break through. Much prefer Adamants in a vertical stack, all focus firing on the same target. I stopped using the manticore as soon as I could, and I really don't like the Berzerk, it just seems too fragile. You definitely need the officers for your reserve fleets to do anything to the colonies. You also get bonuses when you have an officer sitting in orbit of a colony too, so it's a win-win! Eventually as I unlocked more ships for my main fleet, I would put my old ones into their own fleets, and use them to sit on colonies. You can then go off with your main fleet doing other stuff and your lone officer in his manticore will eventually bring the colony back to the Quorum just by sitting there! If Cylons jump on top of him, just emergency jump him away, or if you are low on Tylium, let the manticore get destroyed, it's just a manticore.Īnyway you can keep building more ships and assigning them to secondary fleets, and send them to different colonies to bring them back to the Quorum. Then, you can take your main fleet, fight off any Cylon fleets sitting on the colony you want to recapture, and once you destroy them, jump your spare fleet over to the colony. The fleets can just be a single Manticore each if you like, but you need to assign them an officer. To bring colonies back to the Quorum, you can make ships and create new fleets with them. the Daedelus is also invulnerable if you keep it at Ragnar so even if you lose ships you can fight back provided the shipyard is okay. Regarding the Quorum, it doesn't matter if it gets disbanded, the only way you can lose the campaign is to lose the Daedelus, so don't fret too much if you lose colonies. Alternatively, you can send out vipers to identify the enemy ships (I only discovered recently you can order fighters to a specific patch of space rather than to a specific ship). You only need one ship set to maximum defence and then all your fleet will be able to see the Cylons much earlier and target them. I recommend instead of driving straight at the cylons, take time to form a nice firing line and let them come to you. What's your fleet built of currently, and what do you tend to face? The Cylons are shooting you before you shoot them because they tend to make their lead ship have maximum defensive posture. >!Battlestar Galactica! Message the Moderators <.
